We spend almost a lifetime accumulating things...Homes, cars, money, jobs success in business, various relationships and so forth. And after we have gained these things, we still strive for even more things! Its a never ending cycle. what we think will satisfy us, it never does...There is always something lacking...we are never completely satisfied...Why is that?
When God created us, there is a place put in us that only He can fulfill. Thats why what we accomplish or strive after is never enough. it always feel that something is missing...That's because something is missing in our lives...The Lord Jesus Christ! This world is not our original home! We are visitors here! Heaven and the Garden of Eden is where God had prepared for us to live. When Adam and Eve( the very first man and woman) sinned by doing what they were told not to do, it caused us to lose our home there.(read Genesis for further details).
No matter how we try to please ourselves and make ourselves happy with things, accomplishments, finances and people will never work in the way we want them to...We are just on a fools errand!
All that we amass here on earth will be left here for someone else when we die, and we will die sooner of later....We came into this world naked and we will leave the same way NAKED!...We can't take anything with us! The things we accumulate here are temporal(they are temporary) However, what we store up in heaven with God are eternal...This is where our focus should be. There is a scripture in the Bible that says " what does it profit a man(or woman) to gain the whole world and lose his soul" Mark 8:36... Worldly success is worthless!!
